What are razor bumps?
Razor bumps are essentially an ingrown hair caused when a hair is trapped beneath the skin’s surface and begins to turn in on itself. Various hair removal methods can exacerbate these but exfoliation can help.
Exfoliation removes layers of dead skin, this helps to reduce the likeliness that hairs will get trapped and cause razor bumps because the skin will have fewer excess layers. It’s important to start exfoliating before you shave, and then do it regularly between shaves too, but try not to do them on the same day. Alternatively, a monthly Microdermabrasion treatment is the perfect way to eliminate dead skin build up and prevent the bumps from forming. The added benefit of Microdermabrasion is that it will smooth and rejuvenate your skin as well as reduce scarring, which is perfect if you regularly suffer from razor bumps as they can scar the skin over time.
Get a smooth, clean shave
You’d never choose to shave with a blunt razor but did you know that shaving dry and dull skin is also a big beauty mistake! Always exfoliate your skin prior to shaving if you want to get the closest shave possible, and your skin to appear more radiant and smooth. This way, you will get rid of any dead skin cells that can potentially clog up your razor blades and as a result, you will get a smooth, clean shave!

What are the benefits of regular exfoliation with MD?
- Enhance absorption of skincare products. This is especially true after a more intense exfoliation like Microdermabrasion. Clean, clear pores will soak up product making sure you get better value out of your expensive lotions and potions.
- Great pre-tan prep. Tan clings to dry patches making it look patchy. Regular exfoliation will prevent this from happening.
- Makeup will look more even for the same reasons as above. Exfoliating will ensure the skin surface is clean, clear, and smooth for a flawless finish.
- Minimises pores. Exfoliation will help pores appear smaller. Dirt and grime clogging pores is part of what makes them look more pronounced.
